Leroy Johnson — Philadelphia's Magic Gardens

The challenge was to frame the work of very different artists within a space that was aesthetically driven by the work of Isaiah Zagar. I designed exhibitions for Leroy Johnson, Ilana Shafir, Oasis Art Center and local photographers. For Leroy Johnson, I worked with the museum director to choose artworks from the artist studio and interviewed Johnson about his practice. The bold swathes of yellow accented by grey corners were inspired by his dynamic view of Philadelphia streets and helped direct the visitors’ eyes to Leroy’s work.
